I first arrived in Australia on 3 March 2013, and I have been living here ever since.
Like most newcomers, I arrived with a long list of questions. Which visa do I need next? How do I get a Tax File Number? How do I open a bank account, find a job, rent a place, or work out what things really cost?
Why I Started This Website
Back in 2013, finding clear answers was hard. There was no simple website that explained life in Australia in plain English for people like me. The information I needed was scattered across forums, old blog posts and government pages that assumed you already knew how everything worked.
So I learned the hard way: by asking around, making mistakes, and slowly figuring things out myself.
Today there is much more information online, but it is still spread across dozens of websites, and a lot of it is confusing or out of date. I started Life in Australia Hub so that you don’t have to go through what I did. My goal is simple: to put the answers newcomers need in one place, written in easy English, so you can settle in faster and with less stress.
I built the website I wish I had when I first arrived.
What You’ll Find Here
Every guide on this website answers the real questions people ask when they move to Australia:
- Visas – clear explanations of visa options and what they mean for you
- Jobs – where to find work, what pays well and how hiring works here
- Living – banking, Tax File Numbers, housing, healthcare and everyday life
- Cost of Living – realistic numbers to help you plan your budget
- Travel – the best places to explore once you are settled
Real Experience, Checked Against Official Sources
I have now lived in Australia for more than a decade. I have worked across different industries and gone through the same steps many of our readers are facing right now.
That experience shapes everything I write. But experience alone is not enough, because rules change. That is why every guide is also checked against official Australian Government sources, such as the Australian Taxation Office and the Department of Home Affairs, and updated when visa rules, tax laws or costs change.
My Promise to You
- Information that is easy to understand, with no jargon
- Guides that are honest, practical and regularly updated
- Links to official sources so you can always check the details yourself
- No copying from other websites: every guide is written from scratch
